Troubleshooting CAMS Enterprise

This help file is designed to provide you with information to assist in troubleshooting some issues that may occur.  Not every institution will have these issues and this help file may not have the particular issue that the institution is experiencing.  Some of the issues here may help IT personnel in remembering something that could assist in a resolution. This help file should be used in conjunction with other troubleshooting techniques.  It does not, in any way, list every issue that you may encounter.

Recommended steps could be:

• Determine if it is a network issue, CAMS issue or other vendors' programs used in conjunction with CAMS
• Use help files, both online and PDF documentation
• Use troubleshooting document
• Helpdesk
• Support

Note: If it is a network issue or other vendor program you can check with Unit4 Education Solutions to see if there are any known issues but ultimately these issues will have to be resolved by the institution.

Troubleshooting Issues

Admissions Module

• CAMS Error # = 4022 or Update failed on Student demographics
• Expected Entrance Term defaults to wrong term
• Select student screen is always blank or missing students
• Delete a High School on Admissions >Change Student >HS tab

Billing Module

• Billing Office Hold Voids
• Cannot Distribute a Batch
• 1098s
• 1098 Error

CAMS Manager Module

• Cannot modify lookup tables
• SSI Regeneration Failure
• Setting Up College Database
• Missing Menu Items
• User Menu Missing Items
• Version Check Failure

Connectivity

• Need to change from DNS to IP in Global ASA and CAMSLicense table
• The local policy of this system does not allow you to log on interactively  

Crystal Reports

• Reports will not display and all settings look correct
• Reports only display a red X
• Could not open the field definition file  
• No reports are displaying. Object required error message  
• No reports are displaying.  They were working before
• Cannot export from Crystal Reports  
• Custom reports only load when the person printing them has Crystal reports loaded on their PC
• Users cannot get Crystal Reports to display
• Receive crdb_fielddef.dll and crdb_ado.dll errors
• Financial Aid BYOR Summary By Student Registered Hours Gives Only Zeros

Database

• Need to copy the college database to the training database

Development

• No Activities Display in Constituent or Ledger Correspondence

Email

• Email is not being sent from CAMS Enterprise
• Email is not being sent from Admissions >Student >BYOR
• Email attachments cannot be attached  
• Cannot email files over a certain size
• Routing email through your Exchange server

Export

• Cannot export files over a certain size

Financial Aid

• Cannot import the EDE Award file
• Pending Financial Aid Continues to Display on Billing Statements

Housing

• Students are still in rooms but for incorrect term.

Import

• Get an error when trying to import the file.

Installation

• Cannot import D:\Progra~1\CAMSEN~1\MTSDLL\ENTERP~1.REG: Error accessing the registry
• HTTPS

Miscellaneous

• How do I change the login window to point to the college database rather than “CAMS Enterprise Test”?
• CAMS Enterprise seems slower
• DNS Network Issue
• Shutdown A COM+ Object
• Upgraded server to Active Directory and now CAMS Enterprise does not work
• If we enter a high school by mistake and want to delete it
• Billing Office Hold Voids
• Cannot Distribute a Batch
• Cannot upload Document Image documents larger than 200Kb
• Use SSL with CAMS Enterprise and Portals
• Custom routines are not working now.  Get Read Fail SSI message
• Move CAMS Enterprise to a different drive

Pictures

• Student picture displays a red X.

Portals

• Some items are not working
• Move the portals to a different server than where CAMS Enterprise is located and outside a firewall
• Cannot view portal reports
• Course Management Module No Longer Working
• Faculty cannot register student
• Submitting Final Grades Where Are They
• Error when trying to pull class list to register from student portal
• Cannot create a Student Status record
• Cannot change password on faculty portals
• Students or Faculty do no display address information
• Faculty cannot access Course Management
• Terms do not display in the term drop down field on the login page in either the student or faculty portal
• Registry info from Microsoft regarding configuring the DTC through a firewall
• Cannot create a forum
• After student registers the schedule is blank and no courses were registered

Registration Module

• Grades are not calculating correctly
• When scheduling a class cannot enter a time
• Troubleshooting Registration Issues
• Cannot register a student
• Cannot register a student
• Cannot assign a faculty member to a course
• Cannot create a new class in Offering Maintenance
• Incorrect TransDocs being charged
• Grade Entry grades do not display
• Enrollment counts are not correct

SQL

• SQL server not responding or losing data
• Cannot log on to Ad-Hoc Query
• Msg 7391, The operation could not be performed because the OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB' was unable to begin a distributed transaction. OLE/DB provider returned message: New transaction cannot enlist in the specified transaction coordinator
• Execute permission denied on object 'sp_addextendedproc', database 'master', owner 'dbo'
• We switched to new SQL servers and now cannot connect to CAMS Enterprise
• We cannot log into CAMS. Receive DLL xp_ctnhashproc.dll error

Windows 2003 Server

• Setting up DTC for network access
• MSDTC Security Settings for Windows 2003/Windows 2000 dual server setup
• Cannot Login to CAMS
